Children's Ministry
The greatest gift we can possibly give to children is a Dad and Mom who are growing in their relationship with Jesus. If you care about your children's spiritual well being, you should care about your own spiritual well being. Human beings are mimickers by nature. We tend to follow the example of our models. Allow me to speak frankly. If your relationship with Jesus consists only of going to church on Sundays, but there is no connection into your everyday life, then you can expect your children to follow that example. However, if you love Jesus with all your heart and are the same person in the home that you are at church, you can expect your children to grow up to love and serve Jesus in all of life. This is not an exact science by any means, but it is no coincidence that Scripture places the primary responsibility for the teaching and training of children on parents (Deut. 6:4-9, Judges 2:7-10).
To be sure, the church can come around you and help out, but we certainly cannot replace the training and teaching you do in the home. Now, if you would like to be trained and coached in how to lead and instruct your family, we would love to help out in any way we can. We offer specific training on this each summer on various Saturdays throughout the summer.
During the services we do provide some instruction and care for children. Children ages 3-7 are welcome to be a part of Kid's Church. The go through a Truthopolis curriculum each week that has an accompanying parent's handout that helps you follow up with them throughout the week to solidify in them what they learned. Additionally, the kids have an opportunity to memorize verses and participate in class to earn points that they can trade in at the end of the year for some fun prizes.
We love children here at Rock Hill. We see them as a blessing from the Lord and desire to raise them to love and serve Jesus. In fact, they are such a key part of our strategy in transforming the city of Duluth over time. Our prayer is that we raise children that are champions for Jesus Christ that some day love him even more than we do. You can be assured that your kids will be well cared for and safe (we do background checks on all our nursery/children's volunteers) while they are at Rock Hill.
